Emotionally and spiritually in sync, this short movie captures their aganozing uphill battle as both father and daughter fight with everything they’ve got to overcome their excruciating hardship. For those who missed out first time around, the official video for Let Me Feel is now available on YouTube for all to enjoy.
In a campaign entitled #callnicky – fans are invited to interact with the star by entering their phone number at www.callnickyromero.com. Moments later, Nicky Romero is seen via video – there are nine scenarios in total – dialing the number followed by what appears to be a live conversation with the caller. In what is a flawless process where voice and video are in total synchronicity, Protocol Management, Romero and with the help of Anglo/Dutch creative agency DARE TO DIFR have created a truly engaging experience for fans.
Explaining the concept, Jorik van de Pol, A&R and Digital Director at Protocol Management said: We as a team have tried to come up with an idea that would really set us apart from what anyone else does at this time of year, and over the next three months a much bigger story will unfold. For Nicky and for us, fan engagement at everything we do is our priority and so rather than repeatedly asking fans to vote for Nicky, it was about giving people the opportunity to play with something over a period of time.
Martijn Zijerveld of Dare to Difr: When Protocol Management approached us to see if we could help to take their idea to a flawless execution, both from a UX/UI design and a development perspective, we were excited as the story idea was great and was executable. Fan response and engagement has honestly been mesmerizing and it’s going to be exciting to see it unfold.

Nicky Romero gives “Rip It Up” a festival-ready makeover as he follows up on his most recent releases. He keeps the original’s electro segments, but he reworks the first melodies and moves the massive progressive house chords to a more central part of the track. Nicky has subtly applied his distinctive style to give this track a bit of his own flavor.

Protocol Recordings Releases Official Preview of Don Diablo & CID’s “Give It All” Remix
Protocol Recordings, Nicky Romero’s forward-thinking label, announces the exclusive release of Don Diablo & CID‘s remix of Don Diablo’s forthcoming single “Give It All” feat. Alex Clare and Kelis. The remix is set for release on June 10th via Protocol Recordings. The Dutch bred dance music virtuoso, Don Diablo, has recruited New York’s prodigy, CID, to collaborate on a new, festival-ready rendition of the pop-inclined song. Protocol Recordings looks to fully infiltrate the new generation of dance music fans with an irresistible crossover hit. Preview Don Diablo & CID’s Remix of “Give It All” here: http://bit.ly/11z0Cjc.
Don Diablo wrote and recorded “Give it All” in London after a period of personal reflection. In the words of Don, “For this particular song I wanted to work with two artists with totally different backgrounds and I wanted them to put something personal into the song as well. It was quite a journey, but I feel blessed to now have two of my favorite voices in pop music on the record. “Give It All”, which is set for a July release, already hit the no.1 spot on the Hype Machine and is accompanied by a rather thundering video. “When the record was done I already had an idea in my head for a remix that I could play during the peak of my DJ-sets. I am excited about the release of this remix on Protocol Recordings, because they have a high standard and a selective output for the releases on their label.”
Don Diablo & CID have showcased their expertise in the studio by taking the laid-back original “Give It All” and transforming it into a galvanizing dance floor wrecker. They pair a pad-driven chord progression with Alex Clare’s distinctive, alluring vocals to draw the listener in, while slowly raising the tension before a strong drum hit signals the swift, high-intensity build. The powerful electro synths are introduced under a looped vocal, and after a brief pause at the height of the crescendo, the song’s raw energy breaks through with unrelenting force as voluminous drums, rave horns, and synths induce an electrifying big-room frenzy. The Don Diablo & CID remix of “Give It All” is already on its way to becoming a Summer festival hit as it has seen support from the likes of Pete Tong, Nicky Romero, Laidback Luke, Hardwell, W&W, and many others.
Protocol Recordings, Nicky Romero’s innovative label, releases the mammoth “Symphonica” remix package featuring Cash Cash, Bare, and Suedes on the 20th of May. Following up on the track’s worldwide success, Protocol Recordings has selected the swiftly emerging producers, Cash Cash, Bare, and Suedes, to showcase their own distinctive styles for a powerful, eclectic offering that is nothing short of remarkable. Protocol Recordings continues with its consistent quality output, and will certainly maintain its rise to prominence with more releases to come. Kicking off the “Symphonica” remix package, Cash Cash delivers a jaw-dropping electro-house rendition that features a chopped and screwed dynamic with added drums, a vocal-like synth, and a stunning mid-tempo bridge. Next up, Bare provides a heavy dose of bass with his hybridized trap masterpiece complete with MPC-type sampling. Rounding out the package, Suedes drops the BPM for a reggae-influenced dubstep monster that brings a girthy take on the original without diminishing its melodic nature. The remixes for “Symphonica” are sure to bring new life to one of Nicky Romero’s most forward-thinking track

Building a name around his unmistakeable productions, John Dahlback has a reputation for harnessing explosive energy that is manifested in his works of art. In “Nuke,” he transitions from a stripped-down introduction of drums and looped arpeggios into an exhilarating electro-house sequence with growling, bass-driven synth stabs. The track then breaks open to a bridge of evolving melodies and an intensely stimulating crescendo. “Nuke” is fully realized with the second drop that proves to be just as hazardous as the first. ‘I COULD BE THE ONE’ NO. 1 ON THE OFFICIAL UK SINGLES CHART!
We are proud to announce that Avicii & Nicky Romero single ‘I Could Be The One’ has hit the No. 1 spot on the Official U.K. singles Chart and become the biggest selling Dance track of 2013. This is the first U.K. No. 1 single for both these world renowned DJs.
“It feels amazing and a little out of the blue. I didn’t see this coming and I’m really stunned by the reactions.” Avicii
“I am super excited about this, it’s my first official chart number one and it’s unreal. I have to pinch myself to check whether this is reality” Nicky Romero
Positiva are also celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2013, and what better way to kick off the party than by getting a number 1 with their first release of the year!
Originally (and fittingly) titled ‘Nicktim’, this startling collaboration between two of dance music’s finest has had fans salivating since the instrumental was first previewed on Pete Tong’s ‘Essential Selection’ show back in February 2012 following months of speculation. Pairing Avicii’s infectious melodic talents with Nicky Romero’s big, high-energy sound, the result is a bold progressive house anthem from two of dance music’s fastest rising stars. Having been picked up on a groundswell of support, it was given the all-important vocal treatment from Swedish singer Noonie Bao. Over Christmas it went to No.1 on the Beatport chart. Its outrageously funny video followed soon after clocking up over 16 million views before hitting the top spot in the UK chart.
About Nicky Romero – Thus far, Nicky Romero’s last 12 months has been a year emblematic of a world’s top-tier DJ. He was the highest New Entry in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ poll (No.17). Aside from “Metropolis” – the anthemic collaboration with David Guetta under the newly established record label Jack Back – Nicky has released countless other dance floor juggernauts such as “Toulouse”, “Generation 303” and of course “Nicktim”. He set up his own imprint, Protocol Recordings which has already had three Beatport No. 1s. Unlike like many other producers, each of Romero’s releases reasserts the claim that he is here to stay. Having frequented the festival circuit with headline gigs at the likes of UMF Miami, Energy in Holland, Electric Zoo in New York, and Belgium’s Tomorrowland – not forgetting his residency at the prestigious Marquee club in Las Vegas (for 2013 he has a new Las Vegas residency with the Light Group) – this has been one hell of a year for the now star-studded Dutch artist.
About Avicii – Hailed by Rolling Stone magazine as “one of the Princes of the contemporary renaissance of EDM”, Grammy-nominated Avicii – born Tim Bergling – is best known for his acclaimed live performances and for international mega-hit ‘Levels’. It conquered club charts worldwide, racked up over 50 million YouTube views, and was declared David Guetta’s “Tune of 2011” in DJ Mag. Following an intense and prolific touring schedule as well as the worldwide release of his summer smash hit ‘Silhouettes’ this year, the Swede soared to No.3 in the 2012 DJ Mag poll of the Top 100 DJs after just three years of performing. In 2012 alone, he’s headlined Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland, Electric Daisy Carnival and Lollapallooza, while his first summer residency at Ushuaïa Beach Hotel in Ibiza smashed the party island to smithereens. Avicii is also one of the genre’s most sought after collaborators. His ‘Superlove’ collaboration with Lenny Kravitz and remix of Madonna’s ‘Girls Gone Wild’ are among the most acclaimed tracks this year.
The main aim is to up my game at every possible turn without compromise”—Nicky Romero
Strike up a conversation about the current state of electronic music and it won’t be long before Nicky Romero gets an emphatic mention. And quite rightly so—because at the age of just twenty-six and in the space of only a few prolific years, the Amsterdam-based superstar has managed to build nothing short of a remarkable musical empire. Celebrated the world over for countless chart-topping records and his electrifying energy in front of hundreds of thousands on the world’s most distinguished stages, the loveable Dutch performer, producer, Protocol Recordings chief and global brand ambassador has already carved an international reputation for himself as one of the most exciting and industrious artists of his generation. Perpetually dedicated to growing and maturing the Nicky Romero brand at every turn the Protocol don continues to vindicate his position as one in just a handful of the most influential and venerated forces in the international music arena today.
Real name Nick Rotteveel, Nicky Romero was born January 6, 1989 in the small city of Amerongen, Holland. A keen interest in the drums and an early career spinning house and R&B quickly evolved into an unbridled passion for music production, with early releases (picked up by boutique outfit Once Records) catching the attention of some of the more established house music labels, such as Spinnin’, Fly Eye, Toolroom and Flamingo Recordings. As Nicky worked on honing his own exclusive sound—a seductive blend of progressive house tinged with electro and acid— 2010 saw him release an unofficial bootleg of David Guetta’s smash hit ‘When Love Takes Over’ to the online world; a move which would shape his entire career. The track’s viral success piqued the interest of David Guetta himself and in that moment Romero found his mentor and champion. They have since collaborated on multiple projects including ‘Metropolis’ and ‘Wild One Two,’ and in the summer of 2012 Nicky Romero accepted a yearly residency at David Guetta’s infamous FMIF club nights at Pacha and Ushuaia in Ibiza.
Fast-forward to today and Nicky Romero is now paying forward this experience as a youngster through his own burgeoning Protocol brand—one that has quickly established itself as one of the industry’s leading independent dance music platforms and a go-to outlet for forward-thinking dance music. Championing up and coming artists like Deniz Koyu, Arno Cost, John Dahlback, Vicetone, Kryder, Michael Calfan and Volt & State, Romero now extends his own influence to help develop the next generation of artists, while also supporting more established acts. With the label’s releases consistently charting in the Beatport top 10, international Protocol Reboot events selling out some of the world’s most iconic venues, and with Protocol Radio (a weekly show syndicated to more than 60 radio stations on FM) consistently listened to by over 40 million listeners every week, the emphatic impact his carefully nurtured Protocol brand has around the world continues to grow at an unprecedented rate.
Back in the studio and whether it’s his own original song, a star-studded collaboration, or an inventive remix he’s conjuring, Nicky Romero’s productions consistently receive massive support from both fans and a veritable ‘who’s who’ of dance music aristocracy. With early notable output including ‘S.O.T.U.,’ a single released on Steve Angello’s label Size Records, Nicky is now most widely appreciated for worldwide hit ‘Legacy’ with Krewella; solo singles ‘Symphonica’ and ‘Toulouse’; his UK #1 collaboration with Avicii ‘I Could Be The One’; smash hit ‘Feet On The Ground’ featuring Dutch superstar Anouk and most recently ‘Let Me Feel’—a collaboration with Dutch duo Vicetone for his Protocol Recordings imprint. With additional remixes for Zedd, Calvin Harris and many more, Romero has also produced music for Rihanna (‘Right Now’) as well as two tracks for Britney Spears.
Of course Nicky Romero wouldn’t be where he is now if he wasn’t also a serious force to be reckoned with outside the walls of his studio. A natural born performer from the off, his tenacity behind the decks and his innate ability to read and work a crowd of any size has seen him electrify some of the most revered festival stages on the planet, including those at Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, Lollapalooza, Tomorrowland, Coachella, Stereosonic and countless others.
Add to these his intense ‘Nothing Toulouse’ North American headline tour, road- blocking ‘Protocol Events’ in Miami, New York, London, Manchester and Amsterdam, multiple headline slots at ID&T’s Sensation events, a residency at Omnia in Las Vegas, and a non-stop touring schedule of the world’s most iconic nightclubs, and you begin to understand why this breakthrough star with a bulletproof work ethic is credited as a driving force behind the fantastic health the scene currently enjoys. In every aspect of his life—as DJ, producer and label head—he is a tireless advocate for his art. Couple this with his distinctive signature sound and compelling output, and it is no surprise that he exploded into the DJ Mag Top 100 chart at number 17 in 2012, the highest new entry that year, and rose up to number 7 in 2013—the year which also saw him receive a nomination at the MTV EMA awards for Best Dutch Act.
Building upon these accolades in 2015, whilst simultaneously furthering the Protocol brand and his own individual solo career, Nicky Romero continues to make his indelible mark on the music industry; a mark that is increasingly felt in the hearts of his devoted fans. Pushing relentlessly forward with the wind at his back, Nicky now looks to the next chapter of his already highlight-studded career and has big plans for all facets of the Protocol brand on the horizon. Having made early waves by collaborating with and producing tracks for some of the most iconic names in music (Rihanna, Britney Spears, David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Avicii), it’s Nicky’s sheer determination, combined with an incredible raw natural talent, that now sees him stand shoulder-to-shoulder with these superstars, perpetually striving to be the very best he can possibly be. “The main aim is to up my game at every possible turn without compromise” he says—a holistic life motto which now manifests itself in a truly remarkable career. Long may it continue.
